New year, new start

I started this blog late December 2010, after brother had a serious health scare.  My first post encouraged everyone to learn basic CPR.  Since then most posts have been focused on health-related issues, with the majority on food and diet.

On a recent flight, my husband David and I watched a documentary on my iPad called Forks over Knives.  It carries a life-changing message.  It's also very well produced, promoting healthy changes without resorting to sensationalism or scare tactics.  I encourage everyone to watch it, but especially those who feel discouraged or defeated by excess weight or chronic conditions that leave them feeling sick and tired.

Since watching Forks over Knives, we have jumped into a whole-food, plant-based diet with renewed enthusiasm and purpose.  I wanted to get more educated, so I ordered a number of books (listed to the right) that I hope will: 1) educate me further on plant-based nutrition, and 2) give me healthy recipes to help keep me on track and inspired.  I'm certain there are many other great books, but this is enough for now.  Trying to be relatively moderate...

  1. Hey Sue. I've got the film on hold at the library. Should be coming soon. Good for you for getting healthy and helping the planet at the same time.

    1. Thanks, Michael. A friend at work recommended another film David and I really enjoyed, called "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead." It's a documentary about an Australian guy who travels through the U.S. during a 60-day juice fast. Very inspirational, even for people who never intend to fast on juices made from fruits & veggies.
